Admission To Fullarton Clinic
Seeking support for your mental health is a meaningful step — and we're here to make the transition into care as supportive and straightforward as possible.
Start your path to wellness with clarity, care and support.

1
Initial Contact & Referral
Your journey begins with a conversation. Feel free to reach out directly or be referred by your GP, Psychiatrist, Psychologist or another health professional to one of the Psychiatrists at Fullarton Clinic.
Our intake team can guide you through the options if you're unsure whether you need Mental Health or Addiction treatment.
We'll talk about your treatment needs and program availability and help you understand any initial documentation or requirements, including your private health cover.
2
Assessment & Health Cover Check
Once we receive your referral, one of our clinicians will conduct an initial assessment — either over the phone or in person — to determine whether our service meets your needs.
During this step, we will also:
• Confirm your private health insurance details or outline self-funding options
• Clearly explain any gap fees or out-of-pocket costs
• Help you understand how your private health insurance works, including how to check if your policy covers mental health care and what’s included or excluded in your plan (such as medications or specific treatments).
Want to understand more about private health cover and how it works for mental health and addiction treatment?

3
Admission Planning
If Inpatient Treatment is determined to be right for you, you will be contacted by the intake team and receive practical information to support your arrival. You will also be able to discuss any special requirements or preferences, such as vegan or gluten-free meals, mobility needs, or other personal considerations.
You can also access a packing list, including what to bring, and what to leave at home, to help you get started below.
We understand that starting treatment can feel daunting. That’s why our compassionate team is here every step of the way — to help you feel supported, safe, and confident in your care.

4
Arrival & Check-In
When you arrive, our reception team will welcome you and help with any necessary paperwork. A member of the clinical team will review your care plan with you and help you settle in.
Your comfort and dignity are our priorities — from the moment you walk through the door.
5
Starting Treatment
Your Fullarton Clinic care team will work closely with you to develop a tailored program, which may include group therapy, individual sessions, wellness activities, and other relevant services. Your mental health progress is regularly reviewed, and your treatment plan is adapted as needed.

6
Preparing for Discharge & Continuing Care
As your Inpatient Treatment nears completion, we'll support you in preparing for the next phase of your care. This might involve joining a Fullarton Clinic Day Program, attending Outpatient appointments with one of our consulting Psychiatrists, or reconnecting with your GP.
Your care team will guide you through the next steps — including follow up appointments, medication planning, and access to therapy or support services. We aim to ensure you leave feeling informed, supported, and ready for the next stage of your wellness journey — whatever that may look like for you.
